For the longest, I never really considered myself as an artist but I could always agree that I have a creative side. I truly discovered my talent for décor design when I had the idea to refurbish a floor length mirror to spruce up a spa room. I figured I would make a custom silver coat of paint and call it a day. NO! God had other plans. I kept envisioning this mirror with broken glass, rhinestones and glass stones. To be honest, I had never even considered such a task and quickly decided HECK NO! I didn’t have time for this seemingly endless project. God laughed and told me I would be doing this endless project and that was final....TRUE story! After many long nights, cuts, burns and tears, I completed this mirror. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think I’d created something special. I thought I was done with my design and crafting "experience". Boy was I wrong! This mirror caught so much attention and finally resulted in a request from one of my former clients to make a mirror for the grand opening of her new spa. I was so excited! I had an opportunity to create a design that would be better than the first one. The result was amazing and gave me the confidence to create custom designs for other clients.

In September 2021, I was working on what I thought would be my greatest creation to date. Due to the complexity of the design, I had mentally prepared to work for months straight but my plans came to a tragic halt when my Mama passed away unexpectedly. February of 2022, my life changed forever. At that moment, I no longer had the motivation or the will to complete any designs. My family and friends were patient with me and would gently check in and ask if I had started working on any designs again. I would casually say "NO" and wouldn’t say much else. I was stuck and doing my best to go on living like my mama would want me to. It was hard to accept that she would never see her again in this life.

I knew if I forced myself to create while my grief was so heavy, the result would only look like sorrow, pain and nothing beautiful. While on a family vacation, in September of 2022, I could feel my creativity stirring inside of me. It's amazing how being in nature and spending time with your loved ones can inspire you (me). When Christmas of 2022 rolled around, I made the decision to resume working on the creation that was to be my greatest design to date. When I returned from my Christmas vacation, I threw myself back into creating the art which I had fallen in love with years prior. After many conversations with God and countless days/nights lying in bed thinking of my Mama, I decided my way of honoring her memory would be through Purpose Designed by Adra Rene. In every design, the world will get a glimpse of how my mind works, how I see the world and witness just how creative I can be. The world will also see glimpses of my Mama's beautiful smile, wit, tenacity, bravery, beauty, compassion, style, intelligence and charm.
